This image took a couple years to make. I had taken a similar shot with a point-n-shoot I carried when running and took a similar shot. From that shot I knew I had to go back and take it properly. The challenge is there is only a couple days a year where you can take this shot. The calmness of the water is pretty rare on Lake Champlain as well as a lack of boats. This photo is taken in March, 2009 using a tripod, a neutral density filter and a long exposure so further soften the water. The white area next to the rock is the reflection of a cloud. The place is Lone Tree Point, just north of North Beach in Burlington. The land is owned by the Catholic Church (or was) and it's a quick hike from the State Park. The cliff is extraordinary and this rock sits just off-shore. The mountains you see are the western Adirondacks in New York. Burlington, Vermont. March, 2009.
